How This Works

Therapy is preventive care for the heart.

We visit the dentist twice a year to check our teeth and have our cars serviced before something breaks. But when it comes to our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns, most of us wait until life is already falling apart.

Our emotional world needs the same kind of consistent attention –not because something is “wrong,” but because staying healthy takes intention.

Therapy provides a space to slow down enough to truly hear yourself, understand what you’re carrying, notice how you’re reacting, and identify what hurts and why.

Sometimes, that means untangling old habits, owning your part with honesty and compassion, or simply making sense of why something feels so heavy.

Developing a Plan Comes First

Each client has different needs. We start by working together to develop a plan that actually fits you.

There’s no rigid formula – but there is structure.

We build a plan, then test, adjust, and refine it until you feel traction and momentum. Therapy isn’t fixed – it evolves as you do.

The Work Happens One-on-One

Our sessions are where we slow things down and get clear.

We focus on:

  • What’s actually happening beneath the surface
  • Patterns that keep repeating
  • What needs to change

This is not surface-level conversation. It’s direct, focused, and grounded in real life.

The Work Continues Outside the Session

Real change doesn’t happen once a week.

Between sessions, you’ll begin applying what we work through – how you think, how you respond, how you show up in your relationships and decisions.

This is where things start to shift in a lasting way.

Community Matters

You don’t do this in isolation.

Whether you already have strong relationships or need to build them, part of the work is making sure you are connected in ways that support your growth.

Graduation: A Plan for What’s Next

Therapy is not meant to be indefinite.

As things begin to stabilize and strengthen, we shift toward preparing you to move forward independently.

After Therapy: Staying Ahead of It

Just like going to the dentist, you don’t wait until something is wrong.

Many clients choose to check in periodically – once or twice a year – to stay aligned, catch things early, and continue growing.

About Steven Losardo, LMFT

Personal experience guides my approach.

I’ve spent my career focused on helping people make sense of what feels confusing, heavy, or stuck.

My own experiences – navigating breakups, emotional overwhelm, and the process of understanding myself – inform the work I do every day. I don’t use my story as the focus, but as a compass to help guide others with clarity and perspective.

I combine clinical training with practical, real-world tools that help you understand what’s happening and actually do something about it.

My approach is direct, grounded, and focused. Some clients need structure. Others need space. Many need both at different times. The work adjusts based on what’s actually needed, not a fixed model.

When we begin, I’ll guide you through the early stages – helping you find your footing, identify patterns, and understand what’s underneath what you’re experiencing.

Over time, you’ll build the clarity and tools to move forward on your own. The goal isn’t to stay in therapy – it’s to reach a point where you no longer need it in the same way.

That’s when the work has done what it’s supposed to do.
